Code of Conduct

A Welcoming, Safe, and Respectful Community for All

Robbeburg is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to providing a warm, inclusive, and safe space for international families. To ensure that everyone can enjoy their time here, whether attending a Playgroup or a Robbeburg event, participating in a workshop, or using the venue for a private or professional event, we ask all visitors, caregivers, volunteers, partners, family members, and children to follow our community Code of Conduct.

1. Treat Everyone With Kindness and Respect

Robbeburg is a multicultural community where everyone should feel welcome.

All adults and children are expected to:

  • Use kind, respectful, and inclusive language.

  • Show understanding toward families from many cultures and parenting styles.

  • Avoid discriminatory, aggressive, or disruptive behavior.

  • Be considerate of noise levels and shared space.

2. Prioritize Safety at All Times

The safety of children and families is our highest priority.

All adults must:

  • Actively supervise the children they brought at all times (even during moderated playgroups or events).

  • Follow staff or volunteer guidance when safety concerns arise.

  • Keep personal items, hot drinks, and small objects out of toddlers’ reach.

  • Respect our no-shoes policy, food guidelines, and age-appropriate play zones.

Children are expected to:

  • Play gently and safely with toys, equipment, and peers.

  • Keep play materials in designated areas.

  • Avoid roughhousing or unsafe climbing.

3. Maintain a Clean and Shared Environment

We count on all visitors to help care for our community space. Please:

  • Clean up toys and materials used by you or your children.

  • Place rubbish in the bins.

  • Use only the first room for food and drinks.

  • Return furniture, craft materials, and equipment to their original places.

For private, party, and professional rentals, the booking party is responsible for full clean-up and avoiding damage as per rental terms. Review our Terms & Conditions for the most thorough instructions.

4. Respect Robbeburg Volunteers and Hosts

As a nonprofit run entirely by volunteers, we depend on goodwill and cooperation.

All visitors agree to:

  • Treat volunteers with courtesy and patience.

  • Follow guidance from moderators, event hosts, and board members.

  • Avoid confrontational behavior.

  • Voice concerns respectfully by speaking with a volunteer or emailing us afterward.

5. Create an Inclusive, Child-Positive Atmosphere

Robbeburg is a space where children can explore, learn, and grow.

Everyone, whether attending a playgroup or a professional event, is expected to:

  • Support a positive, encouraging environment.

  • Model calm, kind behavior.

  • Encourage sharing and cooperation.

  • Avoid shaming or harsh discipline.

6. Photography & Privacy

To protect privacy:

  • Do not photograph or record children who are not your own unless you have explicit permission.

  • For professional events, hosts must notify attendees if photography or recording will take place.

7. Health & Illness Policy

Please stay home if you or your child is unwell, especially with fever, vomiting, contagious infections, or persistent cough.

Volunteers may ask families to leave if symptoms risk others’ health.

8. Conflict Resolution & Reporting

If a concern arises:

  • Speak calmly with the person involved, or

  • Ask a volunteer host for help, or

  • Email info@robbeburg.nl for follow-up.

Serious or repeated concerns may lead to further action per our conduct policy.

9. Consequences for Violations

To maintain a safe, respectful, and joyful community, Robbeburg may take the following actions if this Code of Conduct is violated:

  1. Verbal Reminder or Warning – A simple redirection or reminder of expectations.

  2. Conversation / Mediation – A private discussion with a board member or volunteer to clarify and resolve concerns.

  3. Temporary Removal from Session – The person may be asked to leave a playgroup, event, or booking for the rest of the session.

  4. Request to Leave Premises – In serious cases, the participant may be asked to leave for the day.

  5. Suspension of Access – Access to playgroups, workshops, volunteering, or member benefits may be restricted temporarily.

  6. Revocation of Membership / Booking Privileges – For repeated or serious violations, membership or rental rights may be terminated.

  7. Contacting Authorities – If behavior threatens safety, discrimination, or violence, the organization may involve local authorities.

Consequences will be considered case-by-case, respecting context, safety, and community well-being. Children will not be held responsible for age-appropriate behavior, but caregivers are expected to support positive boundaries.

10. Expectations for Rentals & External Events

Groups renting Robbeburg (business, nonprofit, or private) must:

  • Ensure all participants adhere to this Code.

  • Supervise any children present.

  • Avoid decorating or using materials that may damage space or pose hazards to toddlers.

  • Respect all shared space and clean-up per our rental agreement. (Review our Terms & Conditions for the most thorough instructions.)

11. Our Shared Commitment

By entering Robbeburg or participating in any of our programs, all individuals agree to uphold this Code of Conduct.

Together, we build a space of respect, fun, learning, and community for everyone—young and old, local and international.
